Schedules

In this article, you will find the essential information you need for understanding the schedules in Rapid.

In this article, you will find the presentation of details on how to add, edit, and remove shows and build programme schedules for your stations in Rapid.

Presented in this article, there are two distinct workflows for building out your programme schedules for your stations:

  • Common Workflow: begins from the Schedule > Week View
  • Alternative Workflow: begins from the Schedule > Show Library

Each workflow will guide you in developing your program schedules for your stations.

HOME | Overview

In your Rapid, in “HOME | Overview”, select a station of interest from among your stations.

Station Dashboard

After selecting a station of interest, recognize and review the Station Dashboard for your chosen Station.

In the navigation menu, in the section for STATION, select Schedule: or, in the conveyor, select the card for Schedule.

Schedule | Week View (Grid)

For an overview of the schedule for the week, select the tab named Week View: Week View presents a grid to help visualize the program schedule for the chosen station.

Week View showcases user interface controls for viewing shows in the grid and adding shows to the schedule.

  • Station selector (drop-down list at the top of the page)
  • Time zone indicator
  • Today button
  • Horizontal date selector that moves the grid from week to week
  • Zoom controls
  • Add Episode button (blue button with white text | + Add Episode)

In the grid, days of the week are presented across the top and a 24-hour timeline is presented along the left side.

Schedule | Day View

For an overview of the schedule for the day, select the tab named Day View: Day View presents the day’s program schedule for the chosen station.

Day View showcases user interface controls for viewing shows for the day and adding shows to the schedule.

  • Station selector (drop-down list at the top of the page)
  • Time zone indicator
  • Today button
  • Horizontal day selector that moves the schedule from day to day
  • Add Episode button (blue button with white text | + Add Episode)

Schedule | Show Library

In the schedule, select the tab named Show Library: Show Library presents your archive of shows and events.

Show Library showcases user interface controls for finding shows in the collection and adding shows to the collection.

  • Station selector (drop-down list at the top of the page)
  • Search function | Find Shows ...
  • Filter function
  • Add Show button (blue button with white text | + Add Show)

You will access your shows/events as you build out your program schedule for your chosen station.

Schedule | Presenter Library

In the schedule, select the tab named Presenter Library: Presenter Library showcases your archive of people.

Presenter Library showcases user interface controls for finding people in the collection and adding people to the collection.

  • Station selector (drop-down list at the top of the page)
  • Search function | Find Presenters ...
  • Add Presenter button (blue button with white text | + Add Presenter)

You will access your presenters as you build out your program schedule for your chosen station.

Schedule > Week View | Common Workflow

Week View presents a grid to help visualize the program schedule for the chosen station.

Select the blue button named (+ Add Episode): or, click on a gap (No episode) in the grid to add an episode to the Schedule.

In the dialog, Rapid will present your list of shows in the Show Library, if shows have accumulated.

If there are no shows in the Show Library, then select the button named (+ Add new show).

After selecting the button named (+ Add new show), observe the dialog named Add Show.

Information Tab

Name: Key in a unique name for the new show

Description: Key in a compelling description for the new show (optional)

Long Description/Notes: Key in a compelling long description and meaningful notes for the new show (optional)

Color: Key in your hexadecimal color code for the new show

  • Color picker: Select the color picker and choose from among the spectrum of colors

Comments about “Color”

  • Color is not published to any outputs, but color is used if you want to easily identify different shows in the Weekly Schedule View
  • If you choose not to set the color for the show, then Rapid will default to the orange color

After keying in the details for the fields in the Information Tab, select the Images Tab.

Images Tab

Multiple Image Support

Main Image

  • Upload a logo for the show of interest
    • Image file must be a square logo
    • Either PNG or JPG
    • Minimum of 600 pixels by 600 pixels in size with no transparency

DAB Slideshow

  • Upload a logo for the show of interest
    • Image file can be a rectangular logo
    • Either PNG or JPG
    • Minimum of 320 pixels by 240 pixels in size with no transparency

After selecting the details for the images in the Images Tab, select the Presenters Tab.

Presenters Tab

If you have already added Presenters to the Presenter Library, then select the Presenters for the Show.

If no Presenters are found in the Add Show dialog, then after completing the rest of the Add Show dialog, you could navigate to the Presenter Library, add Presenters to the Library, return to the show of interest, and access the dialog named Edit Show: then, you could select Presenters for the Show.

Stations and Groups Tab

Review the showcase of station groups and stations in your Rapid.
Select the stations that need to showcase this Show in their Schedules (listed in the Show Library).

Select the Save button to add the new show to the Show Library.

After saving the new show to the Show Library, observe the dialog named Add Broadcast Time.

In the dialog named Add Broadcast Time, key in your inputs and make your selections for the episodes then select Save.

  • Show logo, name, description

  • Check box: Special event?

    • If this check box is selected, then the check box for adding a weekly recurrence for this show cannot be selected and will be hidden.
    • Shows that are set up as special events are not intended to be set up for weekly recurrence.
  • Times

    • Start Time
    • End Time
    • Start Date
  • Check box: Add a weekly recurrence for this show

  • This show is broadcast every

    • Option buttons: Day, Weekday, Weekend, Custom
      • Select/Deselect the days from the given list
  • End show recurrences

    • Option buttons: No end date, On this date
  • Recurring Running Order

    • Select the Edit button and in the dialog, add items to your Recurring Running Order
  • On these stations (scroll down)

    • Blue buttons
      • Select/Deselect the stations from the given list

Events in the Schedule

After saving the broadcast time(s) for the episode(s), look for the event(s) in the grid: Week View of the Schedule.

Show Library | New Show

Observe the new show in the Show Library.

Show Library presents your archive of shows and events.

Show Library showcases user interface controls for finding shows in the collection and adding shows to the collection.

  • Station selector (drop-down list at the top of the page)
  • Search function | Find Station...
  • Filter function
  • Add Show button (blue button with white text | + Add Show)

You will access your shows/events as you build out your program schedule for your chosen station.

In the Show Library, select the blue button named (+ Add Show) to open the dialog named Add Show.

Information Tab

Name: Key in a unique name for the new show

Description: Key in a compelling description for the new show (optional)

Long Description/Notes: Key in a compelling long description and meaningful notes for the new show (optional)

Color: Key in your hexadecimal color code for the new show

  • Color picker: Select the color picker and choose from among the spectrum of colors

Comments about “Color”

After selecting the details for the images in the Images Tab, select the Presenters Tab.

Presenters Tab

If you have already added Presenters to the Presenter Library, then select the Presenters for the Show.

If no Presenters are found in the Add Show dialog, then after completing the rest of the Add Show dialog, you could navigate to the Presenter Library, add Presenters to the Library, return to the show of interest, and access the dialog named Edit Show: then, you could select Presenters for the Show.

Stations and Groups Tab

Review the showcase of station groups and stations in your Rapid.
Select the stations that need to showcase this Show in their Schedules (listed in the Show Library).

Select the Save button to add the new show to the Show Library.

New Show

Now that a new show exists in the show library, the next task is to assign broadcast times for episodes of the new show in the schedule.

For the show of interest, select the button named Add Broadcast Time to open the dialog named Add Broadcast Time.

In the dialog named Add Broadcast Time, key in your inputs and make your selections for the episodes that will appear in the grid/schedule.

  • Show logo, name, description

  • Check box: Special event?

    • If this check box is selected, then the check box for adding a weekly recurrence for this show cannot be selected and will be hidden.
    • Shows that are setup as special events are not intended to be setup for weekly recurrence.
  • Times

    • Start Time
    • End Time
    • Start Date
  • Check box: Add a weekly recurrence for this show

  • This show is broadcast every

    • Option buttons: Day, Weekday, Weekend, Custom
      • Select/Deselect the days from the given list
  • End show recurrences

    • Option buttons: No end date, On this date
  • Recurring Running Order

    • Select the Edit button and in the dialog, add items to your Recurring Running Order
  • On these stations (scroll down)

    • Blue buttons
      • Select/Deselect the stations from the given list

Select Save | View your new show with the chosen broadcast times in the Show Library.

Events in the Schedule

After saving the broadcast time(s) for the episode(s), look for the event(s) in the grid: Week View of the Schedule.

Events in the Dashboard

After saving the broadcast time(s) for the episode(s), look for the event(s) in the dashboard for the station of interest.

Schedule > Week View | Options in the Episode Menu

In the Week View in the Schedule, every episode (block in the schedule) showcases a vertical ellipsis in the upper right corner: the key to the Episode Menu.

Select the ellipsis to open and view the Episode Menu.

Options in the Episode Menu

  • Edit Broadcast Times
  • Edit Episode Details
  • Edit Running Order
  • Make Temporary Show Changes
  • Replace with a Different Show
  • Replace with a Specific Event
  • Remove from Schedule
  • Display in Show Library

Edit Broadcast Times

In the Episode Menu, select the option named Edit Broadcast Times.

Rapid will present the dialog named Edit Broadcast Time where you can make your changes.

Edit the broadcast times for this episode.

Any changes to the broadcast times for this episode will also affect other episodes for this show that use the same broadcast times rule.

Edit Episode Details

In the Episode Menu, select the option named Edit Episode Details.

Rapid will present the dialog named Edit Episode where you can make your changes.

Select the tabs and edit the Information, Images, and Presenters for this particular episode.

Changes made using this option/dialog will only affect the episode, not the entire show.

Edit Running Order

In the Episode Menu, select the option named Edit Running Order.

Rapid will present the dialog named Running Order where you can make your changes.

Add, remove, and edit the music and speech events that occur within this episode.

Button | Edit Recurring Items

  • Select the button to access the dialog for Recurring Running Order

Make Temporary Show Changes

In the Episode Menu, select the option named Make Temporary Show Changes.

Rapid will present the dialog named Edit Show where you can make your scheduled changes.

This option allows you to make changes to the show for a specific time period.

For example: replace the host details temporarily, whilst the current show hosts are on vacation.

Scheduled Change Tab

  • On this day only: key in the date of interest for a temporary change
  • Between these dates: key in the dates of interest for a temporary change
  • From this date onwards: key in the date of interest for a permanent change

Information Tab

Name: Key in a unique name for the new show
Description: Key in a compelling description for the new show (optional)
Long Description/Notes: Key in a compelling long description and meaningful notes for the new show (optional)

Images Tab

Main Image

  • Upload a logo for the show of interest
    • Image file must be a square logo
    • Either PNG or JPG
    • Minimum of 600 pixels by 600 pixels in size with no transparency DAB Slideshow

Presenters Tab

If you have already added Presenters to the Presenter Library, then select the Presenters for the Show.

Replace with a Different Show

In the Episode Menu, select the option named Replace with a Different Show.

Rapid will present the list of shows in the Show Library: select the substitute show that will occupy the broadcast time of interest in the schedule.

Replace with a Different Show
You could replace this show and future time slots for this show with a different show.

For example: a show could be replaced with a different show in the same time slot.

Replace with a Specific Event

In the Episode Menu, select the option named Replace with a Specific Event.

Rapid will present the list of shows in the Show Library: select the special event that will occupy the broadcast time of interest in the schedule.

You could replace the current episode with a one-off special program.

For example, a regular program could be replaced with special one-off holiday programming.

Remove from Schedule

In the Episode Menu, select the option named Remove from Schedule.

Rapid will offer you the chance to reconsider your intention to remove the episode/event from the schedule.

This will remove the selected episodes and any future episodes that use the same broadcast times rules.

Display in Show Library

In the Episode Menu, select the option named Display in Show Library.

Rapid will navigate to the show of interest in the Show Library: continue with your design of the schedule.

This will open the Show Library tab and showcase the selected show.

Show Library | Broadcast Times

In the Show Library, consider the Broadcast Times: Rapid will showcase the list of broadcast times for the show in this area of the UI/UX.

As you continue with your design of the schedule, you could select the button named (+ Add Broadcast Time).

Show Library | Scheduled Changes

In the Show Library, consider the Scheduled Changes: Rapid will showcase the list of scheduled changes for the show in this area of the UI/UX.

As you continue with your design of the schedule, you could select the button named (+ Add Change).

Station Dashboard

After setting the schedule of shows and episodes in your Rapid, navigate to the station dashboard.

Changes made to the Schedule will be evident in the Station Dashboard.

HOME | Overview

After setting the schedule of shows and episodes in your Rapid, navigate to “HOME | Overview”.

Changes made to the Schedule will be evident in “HOME | Overview”.
