PC Requirements & Installing Rapid
In this article, you will find the essential information you need for understanding the PC requirements for Rapid followed by the installation of Rapid.
For details on how to configure the system settings for Rapid, please read the Setting Up and Configuring Rapid article.
Minimum PC Requirements
The minimum PC Requirements for Rapid are listed and described in Table 1.

Connectivity | PC must be able to: - access the same subnet as your broadcast equipment (e.g. FM RDS, HD Radio, DAB) - access the internet - have remote access for installation and troubleshooting |
Initial Installation
Run the Rapid Installer application.
Rapid will be installed as a service, running as the built-in "Network Service" user.
If Rapid terminates unexpectedly, the service will restart the process after a 30-second wait. These events are logged.
If Rapid fails to start, it will log the error to the Windows Event log. To view the error, press the Windows key and type 'Event Viewer'. In the list on the left-hand side, expand 'Windows logs', then select 'Application'.
To complete your installation, from a compatible browser go to this link/address:
http://[ip_address_of_rapid]:[port]/
If you access Rapid from a browser on the same machine as the Rapid server, the link/address will be:
http://localhost:9001/
At the link, you will see the screen/prompt to enter your PIN Code:
Enter the PIN supplied with the Rapid installer and click Submit.
Rapid will now download the licence for your Rapid from our servers.
If you do not have a PIN Code or the PIN Code fails, then please contact All In Media.
Once you have entered a correct PIN Code, you will see the Rapid Login screen.
When you first launch AIM Rapid, a default user is setup:
- username “admin”
- password “pass"
Once you have logged into Rapid, you can change the password in the “Users” dialog.
Upgrading Rapid
Run the supplied Rapid Installer application and check that it is installing Rapid in the same folder as the current version.
- The new version of Rapid will over-write the existing version of Rapid.
To test that the upgrade has been successful, launch a compatible browser on the Rapid server and go to this link/address: http:/[ip_address_of_rapid:[port]/
- If you haven’t changed the default port, to access Rapid from a browser on the same machine as the Rapid server the link will be:
http://localhost:9001/
